TINNITUS Who said this was nothing, Huh? Imagine being at a movie where the sound track is turned to the highest volume. Actors’ voices are screaming at you. After five minutes, you leave holding your ears and cursing the theater for its poor judgment. Turning newspaper pages, running water in the kitchen sink, your child placing dishes and silverware on the table – all are intolerable to your ears. A baby cries or a truck screeches its brakes to a halt and the sound is excruciating. What has happened to my ears? The person who has hyperacusis can’t simply get up and walk away from noise. Instead, the volume on the whole world seems stuck on high. Hyperacusis is defined as a collapsed tolerance to normal environmental sounds. Ears also lose most of their dynamic range. What is dynamic range? Dynamic range is the ability of the ear to deal with quick shifts in sound loudness. Suddenly everyday noises sound unbearably or painfully loud. The disorder is often chronic and usually accompanied by tinnitus (ringing in the ears), but can occur in patients who have little or no measurable hearing loss. Hyperacusis differs from recruitment, which is an abnormal growth in the perception of loudness accompanied with hearing loss. With recruitment, loud noises are uncomfortable. With hyperacusis, all sounds are too loud. Most patients also experience inner ear pain or a feeling of fullness (pressure) in the ears. Hyperacusis can be devastating to the patient’s career, relationships …

@MissPrayer wow same exact story, except for the health school… but i know exactly what you mean.
using TRT is a great method in reducing the ringing.
fuck u stupid vid
I would rather have some hearing loss than this sound in my head!
@PersonOfBook -It might be, not too sure. I think i’ve recovered from the condition, but now i’m very cautious about loud noises and what I can do to prevent tinnitus, which is good. Btw, the sound I was hearing (if I focused on it) was a soft, flicking sound, like somebody flicking their nails, only VERY LIGHTLY. It was intermittent, and I was gravely depressed a few days. Luckily, a good church member talk to me about living my life, and not focusing on it. It soon went away, and I was happy
@stfanatic After how much time listening music with headphones you developed tinnitus? Because I’ve been hearing with headpones for the last 7 months but I’ve stopped it now, since I feel a very low intensity ring in my ears. It is probably because I’m concentrating on it, otherwise I don’t think I have tinnitus. Can you tell me how loud the noise of tinnitus is?
@powerfultoa7 How loud it is, I can feel very low intensity sound of this kind if I focus. Is that Tinnitus, or is it louder?
I’ve had it for a year… It never goes away, it never lessens. I can’t fall asleep at night, the tinnitus keeps me awake. My life is ruined.
@LizardKing52 Dun worry man, I have it too and i’m also 18. As there is no cure, the best way to beat it is to focus on things you love most in life, and soon you’ll have your life back. Sounds hard, but true
I have both I assume, had once a strong middleear infection and since then I have it. isn’t there maybe something you could do against it?
Important information:
- Hyperacusis is being able to hear environmental noises very
well.
- Tinnitus is hearing a ringing constantly.
I have both. If any doctor or researcher is pursuing a study into Tinnitus, please, do not call it Hyperacusis.
I don’t hear anything except the ringing I already have.
I used to listen to music with headphones from the ’60s. Back then they had no filters and I thought it was “cool” when the sond ended and my ears would still be ringing, but, soon the ringing did not stop.
For years I thought everyone heard the ringing but then I found out it was only me (meaning the people that I personally knew).
I ve be n to the doctor he sed. My eardrum is intacto. It must be my nerves. If it wont recover, i got tinnitus.
I blew a firecracker in my ear had it since that =(
I got it since i post the last post …

Yo tengo tinitus, tambien.
Omg, I called the cops once too… that was kinda funny later on but not the time. I stop a lot just to listen to the ringing…. just there it took me 3 min to get back to writing. Any body out there have any advice? I’m trying to just accept it and not react but damn.
I had a neighbor with Hyperacusis once. An old retired nurse. She was a pain for most of us in that stair house. When she heard something, she called the police, and the police got fed up with her quite soon. One day, she was just gone… I think she divorced with her husband.
Amazing how listening to this makes me relax too. I don’t remember a life without tinnitus. It’s very hard to concentrate and not get depressed. Cheers!
yes you have to look after your ears, once the damage is done thats it, i never thought i had my guitar up loud enough to do any damage, how wrong i was
